Starting second term

Lake Louise

We got back from Canada and NY safe and sound, and launched into second term. It’s only a week since we got back and it seems like a month. Our two weeks in Canada were fabulous. The Rockies were stunning, and I had never experienced so much snow! The four days/nights at Chateau Lake Louise were magical as was the driving, with every kilometre displaying magnificent views. Staying a few blocks away from Central Park in 77th street, on the corner of Broadway, was great as we got to visit every day and see a bit more – Stawberry Fields, base ball games, weddings, fountains, mosiacs, horse riding, turtles, blossoms, and views. Cam and Dom enjoyed NY and the day spent snowboarding in Lake Louise. David took many great photos and although we were underwhelmed initially by Vancouver and then Kamloops, the Rockies took our breath away and made for a memorable holiday

Busy days

What a week! I’m finding my new role at Team Leader challenging. There were a few interesting moments last week with various staff members – nothing too heavy, but just instances which I suppose mark the change in our relationships. I had a nasty cold as well, which is only just now starting to improve.

David took the boys to a Rugby League game last night at Wade Park- a boy evening! I stayed at home, watched TV and had a couple of glasses of wine, and did some work on the tax.   As well I had a  search on e-bay for dolls house nicknacks.

It’s mid morning.  Cam came in a few minutes ago to show me a game he has posted – very simple concept which received some positive feedback from those ‘in the know’. He’s busy making a version 2 as a response to the constructive comments. Nigel and Scott are coming over for a few hours of band practice with Cam in the shed.  Dom is in the dog-house with David again…. those two are peas in a pod. He did really well in the rep cricket squad last Sunday – scored 58.. They won the game and are in the finals next week.

Boy bands with stars in their eyes

drumkit2.jpgBoth Cam and Dom have separately been planning with friends to form bands. Dom has been incredibly excited. He and his friends have been talking about their gigs and how much money they will make – all before the first practice session! Dom suggested the name Four Fingers, and today they’ve been at Matt’s house ‘jamming’ since cricket finished 6 hours ago. Well that was the plan.  We’ll see if they were able to sustain the interest!

Cam has been much more laid back about the far-off prospects of fame and fortune. His band, Twilight Blur, is getting together next week here in Hill Street apparently. Which reminds me… I’ll have to get him to tidy up the shed.

The boy’s quilts

Dom’s quilt on his bed Here are some photos of the two other quilts I’ve finished. The blue one is for Dom, and Cam chose the dark green colours for his. They are keen for me to take the pieced quilts to get quilted so that they can have them on their beds for good!

Scrapbooking – recording memories

My second podcast.   Hope you enjoy hearing some tips about scrapbooking, and some reasons why scrapbook albums are a good idea to create.  I hope you like this one.  Please download.

Basketball games start again at Anzac Park

Cam was a star at basketball today… he put his body on the line and rebounded and intercepted brilliantly. The boys were especially pleased as their coach, Mr Smith, has returned to KWS and managed to make it to some of the game. They all shook hands and made a joke of him missing the first half or so… all good fun and it was lovely to see how keen they were to show him how much they’d improved on the court. We dashed to the car afterwards as it was raining… nice for a change!

Getting back into the swing

We were all out of the house today and back into our pre-holidays routine.  Hooray at last!   Cam and Dom at school, David and I at work.  Cam surprisingly has only dropped back from the top to the second top class in Maths, and remains in the second top classes for all his other subjects.  He felt a little vindicated as a result of this despite not being able to deny his very poor final year result… oh well another chapter begins.  Dom had a great day and lots to talk about.  It is like he can’t quite get over how big a change it is, and seems to love comparing notes with Cam and getting his opinion.  He and Cam had some title pages to complete and both did a great job.  Dom was exhausted again and went off to sleep like a lamb.

Dominic’s first day at high school

Dom’s first day as a high school student at KWS, Orange

Dominic was in a super mood from the moment I picked him up after school today, until the moment his head hit the pillow. He made us smile with his enthusiasm for his timetable and diary, and his persistence in making sure he got his bag packed with all the correct books for tomorrow. This occurred only after innumerable calls to his friends to get an answer about whether it was Week A or Week B. There was not a consensus, and it was only settled after he called Thomas, who, Dom informed us, could be counted on absolutely for his excellent memory for details.

Welcome to my Podcasts and Weblog!

Thank you for visiting my Podcasts and Weblog site.

I have categorised the entries in the left menu space so that you can easily find the information you are interested in.

It’s been a fun process getting things to this point… a family project you might say!

Anyway I hope that you enjoy the site as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it together.

What a triumph!

After a marathon we have reached the finish and the first podcast is complete. The family were terrific and all contributed. Big thank you all round. It’s mid afternoon now, and the clouds are beginning to cover the sky. We badly need some rain so I’m hoping for a thunderstorm… it’s certainly still enough for one. Off to high school for Dom tomorrow and Cam will go on Wednesday – oh the routine of school terms! I find I alternate between wishing for the school holidays to end, and lamenting them ending. Relaxing standards around bedtimes, clothing, lunches and also no homework is a treat during school breaks!
